Que Sera Sera . . . whatever will be will be.. :sing:

It was raining around noon when *suzums , *Aikuchi and I were in Pulau Ketam, or Crab Island. This picture alone tells so much about the island's life... One's the obvious: The boy, strolling down the road like we're not even there. I used a 28-80mm for this, yet we weren't bothered by him, walking down as though it's a norm for him.. that my vanity was somehow challenged by him in some way. And those who knows me do know very well how vain I can get!

I looked at him when this photo was developed and decided this is my most favorite shot of all the 2 rolls I finished here. It makes one wonders what's up in the little mind of his; to be a model someday walking down on a catwalk with flashbulbs bursting in his face with all the fame? ...to be a visionary statesman? ...to be a cartoonist? ...to be home after the rain? Sigh.. que sera sera... will I be pretty? ...will I be rich? Que sera... sera....

The other thing which is obvious, but offers a little extra explanation, is how the island's developed. Everything was built on stilts 5 to 10 meters high above the mangrove swamps which covers the entire island. This walkway was believed to be once wooden, but as it's the main one and only link from one side of the island to the other, it's being sealed with concrete, not tar. Besides, the only modes of transport here are bicycles and motorized bicycles, one which you could still paddle on if you're out of gas!

Today I'm submitting a double deviation to replace the featured one with this and the recent one with the next, plus the fact that there's so many photos of the island that I wanna post up this month, since next month's gonna be a different theme altogether. So please, do comment on both ya!

...ain't he cute with that bubbly face? Aaww...

Disclaimer:

Please DO NOT mistake this photo as either the aftermath or before the recent tsunamis of the island, which hit the country and many others in South Asia. This is NOT a tribute. Although one death was reported nearby Pulau Ketam, the island itself and Port Klang were not affected by the quake or tsunami. This deviation, however, may be used as a representation of how fishing villages along the north-western coastlines of Peninsular Malaysia or those of Indonesia, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka were like before the disaster. Please interpret this picture and upcoming ones accordingly. For more information on Pulau Ketam, please check the Journal.

  • January Deviation starting the 3rd will feature a collaboration between *suzums , *Aikuchi and I of Pulau Ketam, or Crab Island

  • Week One, December 3rd to 8th, feature will be in Color

  • Week Two starting 10th onwards month-long will be in Black and White

  • No deviations will be submitted on Sundays and Bank Holidays, which falls on the first and third Saturdays of the month, and any gazetted Federal Territory or Public Holidays, unless noted otherwise.
