Can We Go Now Puhleeeze . . . by =estudio "I literally wept when I saw this photo, not coz it's sad, but how it touched my heart to see something which I doubt I'd ever witness again in a million years! Two old men, chatting away like housewives gossipping about each other's neighbors, and a baby (yes, a REAL baby!) stuffed and squished inside the bicycle's front basket!" I couldn't express it better!

Can We Go Now Puhleeeze . . . You're gonna make a marshmallow out of me, dad!

I literally wept when I saw this photo, not coz it's sad, but how it touched my heart to see something which I doubt I'd ever witness again in a million years! Two old men, chatting away like housewives gossipping about each other's neighbors, and a baby (yes, a REAL baby!) stuffed and squished inside the bicycle's front basket! :faint:

Photojournalism these days depict sadness over the recent tsunamis and earthquakes of South Asia, yet photojournalism with humor seldom gets published as it's rare to get that perfect timing and the chance to witness it yourself as a photographer. The only source of laughing kick I can get from good photojournalism is from Outside magazine on its last page of every issues. Those who never heard of the magazine, you might wanna google up a book called "Bear Waltz" or "Hip Hop Hares" which were published by them from 20 years of Outside humor-photojournalism.

Even something as normal to the islanders of Pulau Ketam, which *suzums , *Aikuchi and I visited early last December, could seem to be something worth remembering to a visitor from the outside world. Rural scenes can bring forth so much wonders than anyone could imagine, and being new in photography, it does bring me the ecstatic feeling whenever I see my films turn out the way I want it, or otherwise, yet still retaining an artistic feel to them.

Another reason why this shot captures my heart is of how much we've heard about babies having a mind of their own too and when I see this child, many things can be seen running in his mind: "Daaad.. mom's seeing the postman again, did you know? Oh well, what do you care?" ...or "Daaad.. I counted my toes today! Wait, those were my fingers.. oh well..." ...or "Daaad.. I'm bored. Can I pout?"

...add your own caption if you want. I'd love to see what you think the child's thinking!

Please support Photojournalism. Check out ^Moonbeam13's Journal for upcoming Photojournalism contests!! I'll definitely be taking part! :boogie:

I'll be away on a working trip out of town tomorrow, January 12th. No deviation(s) will be posted.

Disclaimer:

Please DO NOT mistake this photo as either the aftermath or before the recent tsunamis of the island, which hit the country and many others in South Asia. This is NOT a tribute. Although one death was reported nearby Pulau Ketam, the island itself and Port Klang were not affected by the quake or tsunami. This deviation, however, may be used as a representation of how fishing villages along the north-western coastlines of Peninsular Malaysia or those of Indonesia, Thailand, India and Sri Lanka were like before the disaster. Please interpret this picture and upcoming ones accordingly. For more information on Pulau Ketam, please check the Journal.

  • January Deviation starting the 3rd will feature a collaboration between *suzums , *Aikuchi and I of Pulau Ketam, or Crab Island

  • Week One, December 3rd to 8th, feature will be in Color

  • Week Two starting 10th onwards month-long will be in Black and White

  • No deviations will be submitted on Sundays and Bank Holidays, which falls on the first and third Saturdays of the month, and any gazetted Federal Territory or Public Holidays, unless noted otherwise.
